Awards & Grants

My background

Fresh off a six-month internship of the science desk at the website formerly known as Tech Insider.

I have an MSJ from the Medill School of Journalism, where I was a Comer Scholar for environmental journalism and a Carnegie Grant recipient.

Before that, I wrote for Salt Lake City Weekly, first as an intern, then as a freelancer.

What I Cover

I'm especially passionate about climate change, but I've also written about everything from shipwrecks to Dolly the Sheep.

Whether it's clones or quantum plants, I tell stories about how science touches our lives.

It's quite a pivot from my early days covering local bands and politics.
I still love those things, though.

How I Cover It

First and foremost, I'm a writer and reporter. I do everything from quick-hitting news briefs to longer features.

But that's not all I bring to the table. I can shoot and edit audio and video packages. I take photos too — check out my gallery.

I'm also conversant in HTML5, CSS, and some Javascript.
